Every Generation Got His Own Little
Bag Of Tricks

1- Every Generation Got His Own Little Bag Of Tricks
2- Dub Generation

When the legendary American disc jockey Alan Freed coined the phrase “rock ‘n’ roll”, Bo Diddley was the first musician he considered to be an exponent of this style. In 1955, playing the musician’s first single called “Bo Diddley” for Chess Records in Chicago, Freed declared: “Here’s a man with an original sound, an original beat that’s gonna rock ‘n’ roll you right out of your seat.”
Decades later Bo Diddley reflected back upon his 1979 US tour with The Clash. Did he like the sound of these new kids on the block? We think he summed it up pretty well when he stated that, “Every generation got his own little bag of tricks…”.

Makes You Angry, Makes You Mad

1- Make You Angry, Makes You Mad
2- That Makes Me Dub

“I am challenged, because it speaks to the amount of work that has to be done. Because when we see those kind of ideas of religious hostility, racial inferiority, it’s just a challenge to us that we have got to nip those ideas in the bud before they begin to flower and prosper. Because, we don’t like to think that this could ever happen again, but it could happen again. And your heart is never gonna dance if you’re going through this.”

My Sad Thoughts

1- My sad Thoughts Of Sly Stone Being Homeless
2- Tear It Dub
3- Hands On The Eyes Of Dub
4- My Dub Thoughts

As far as ‘I Believe in my mess’ is concerned, Sly Stone is up there with the brightest stars of popular music. To find out that the man is living in a small RV being hopelessly addicted is not only sad, but mindboggling as well. Why wasn’t this breaking news? It’s like finding out that Paul McCartney is broke and has been surviving in the London subway.
All the more reason to write an ode to the man who made so many people happy. So, one more time: dance to the music.

Released August 2, 2016

All music by I Believe In My Mess, except ‘Hands In The Eyes Of Dub’. Original song by Scram C Baby.
Sounds & dubs recorded at Messy Sound Studio, Amsterdam, except 3: sounds recorded by Frans Hagenaars, at SSE, Muiden.

The Twist

1- The Twist
2- Every Dub
3- That Makes You Dub
4- Let It Dub

Colin Powell’s 2003 speech for the United Nations seems to be the iconic start of an ongoing war, that up to today, did not only put the Iraqi region but cities all over the world on fire.
Apart from the content, his performance is an outstanding one. Almost musical, like a tantra. Self-assured American rhetoric at its best. Smooth dude Powell swings, seduces, curls, coos and begs you to come to a place of which you never thought you’d go to.
In 2005, Powell states that he regrets his UN speech. ‘’This performance is a stain on my political career,’’ he declares in an interview at television station ABC. ‘’There were people at the secret service who knew at the time that some sources were not reliable and they did not tell me. It destroyed me.’’
